I am an active teacher and performer in San Diego and Southern California appearing with the San Diego Opera, San Diego Chamber Orchestra, La Jolla Symphony, and San Diego Winds. I also played 2nd flute/piccolo and principal flute with Lyric Opera San Diego for serveral years. Additionally, I performed recitals in solo and with mixed ensembles settings, such as the San Diego Winds and Cabrillo Strings. Though I have a lot of performance experience, teaching is where my passion lies. I maintain a private studio of flutists from all ages and have taught classroom flute at Point Loma, Westview and Poway High Schools. I am eager about helping flutists reach their performance potential and love the journey in the process. I tailor my teaching to the individual, removing blocks to learning, personal achievement and expression. My specialty is helping students overcome their anxiety and tripidation to performance and to this end have earned my B.A. in Psychology from San Diego State University (2021). I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapist trainee at SDSU (M.S. candidate, 2024) and hope to help as many flutists as possible reach their potential. My past teachers include Christelle Burgess (primary music instruction), Mary Ellen Trefry (professional training), Dr. Teresa Beaman (extended techniques), Damian Bursill-Hall (orchestral techniques and sonority), Elizabeth Ashmead (ensemble techniques, piccolo), Claude Monteux (solo literature, baroque) and Dr. Irvin King (music theory).
